Calverton Aviation Technology is moving ahead with building the future where aerospace history was made, creating what will be the largest innovation and technology parks in the eastern United States.

Once upon a time its official name was The Naval Weapons Industrial Reserve Plant (NWIRP) at Calverton and our nation’s defense was its sole strategic purpose.

When Grumman was based at Calverton they were creating squadrons of Navy fighters and bombers and was not a single year when their employees weren’t introducing aviation innovation. The sprawling property demonstrated the enormous economic power of technology.
It is now time to reclaim this site’s heritage of job creation, economic growth, and the ability to be a world class campus for business innovation.
Through a public-private partnership with the Town of Riverhead, CAT is creating an environment that welcomes business and technology development back to Calverton. The companies that will arrive here will find an enormously talented workforce with a town administration equally committed to building a firm foundation for economic growth.
History reminds us that this former flight test center was deeded to the Town by the federal government for the specific purpose of economic development; to restore this site as an economic engine that meets the challenges of a 21st Century economy.
Accordingly, CAT is truly honored to be entrusted by the Town of Riverhead with the development of this historic property.
Much has been written about Calverton. But the time for talk is over. Now it is about building the future through a multi-year development plan. Its tenants will reflect a spectrum of disciplines, from AI to aviation, from cyber security to green energy, from education to manufacturing.
At CAT we believe our region’s potential is limited only by the extent of our vision, energy, and work ethic.
